LPPM UNHAS Signs Cooperation Agreement with Universities in the PAIR Sulawesi Project Regional Area

Makassar, October 22, 2025 — The Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Hasanuddin University officially signed the Regional University Contract for the PAIR Sulawesi Project (Partnership for Australia–Indonesia Research). The event was attended by various universities in the Sulawesi region who are partners in strengthening cross-disciplinary research collaboration between Indonesia and Australia.

The contract signing took place at the LPPM UNHAS Building, Tamalanrea Campus, and was attended by the Head of LPPM UNHAS, Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D., Sp.MK, representatives from the Indonesia–Australia PAIR Project, as well as representatives from partner universities, including Gorontalo State University, Tadulako University, HaluOleo University, Sam Ratulangi University, West Sulawesi University, and several other higher education institutions.

In his remarks, Prof. Nasrum stated that this contract signing is a crucial step in strengthening the synergy of research and community service among universities in Eastern Indonesia.

“Through the PAIR Sulawesi Project, we aim to build a strong and sustainable research network among universities, and ensure that the research outcomes can make a tangible contribution to regional development and the welfare of the Sulawesi community,” he said.

The PAIR Sulawesi Project is part of a strategic research partnership initiative between the Indonesian and Australian governments, aiming to strengthen academic collaboration and research-based policy. The project’s main focus areas include strategic issues such as regional development, maritime economy, food security, connectivity, and human resource development in the Sulawesi region.

Through the signing of this contract, Hasanuddin University, together with its partner universities, is committed to broadening research collaboration, promoting international scientific publications, and producing evidence-based policy recommendations relevant to the development of Sulawesi.

The activity concluded with a joint photo session and a technical discussion regarding the work plan, coordination mechanisms, and implementation stages of cross-university research under the umbrella of the PAIR Project.
