Unhas LPPM Collaborates with Parepare City Government to Create Sustainable Solutions in Community Service

Parepare, April 25, 2025 – The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Hasanuddin University paid an official visit to the Parepare City Government as part of the preparations for the implementation of the Community Service program in three districts in South Sulawesi, namely Barru District, Parepare City, and Sidrap District.
The visit was led by the Secretary of LPPM Unhas, Prof. Ir. Suharman Hamzah, Ph.D., (Eng) HSE, who was accompanied by two staff members from the Program Subdivision. The group was received directly by the Mayor of Parepare, H. Tasming Hamid, S.E., M.H., along with relevant officials from the Parepare City Government.
This community service program will focus on priority areas such as education, health, creative economy, and development of leading regional sectors, with a collaborative approach between universities and local governments.
“We want to ensure that this activity is not just a ceremonial event, but truly addresses the real needs of the community and becomes a tangible contribution from the campus,” explained Prof. Suharman.
The Mayor of Parepare welcomed this program and expressed his full support.
“We are ready to synergize and collaborate with UNHAS. This program can be a solution to the challenges faced by the people of Parepare,” said Mayor Tasming.
This series of community service activities will be carried out in the near future, involving a team from the UNHAS Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) who will work directly in the field. This visit marks the beginning of ongoing collaboration between UNHAS and the local government to create a broader impact on community development.
