LPPM UNHAS Holds the Second National Seminar on Research and Community Service (SEMRIPMAS)

Makassar, December 4, 2024 – The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) successfully held the 2024 National Seminar on Research and Community Service (SEMRIPMAS). Held on December 4, 2024, the event carried the theme “Synergy of Research and Community Service Towards Indonesia Emas 2045,” aiming to spur collaboration between academia, government, and society in welcoming the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.
The seminar, attended by more than 300 participants from various universities, government agencies, and the industrial sector, featured a series of seminar sessions, research presentations, and panel discussions. This activity invited all elements of the nation to collaborate in producing applicable research that would have a positive impact on society and support national development towards a developed, independent, and sustainable Indonesia in 2045.
The seminar featured three prominent speakers who are experts in their fields, namely:
Prof. Dr. Bambang Purwanto, M.A, Professor at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), who discussed the role of social research in driving social change and supporting sustainable development.
Prof. Ir. Lalu Muhamad Jaelani, ST, M.Sc., Ph.D, Professor at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), who explained how technological research and innovation can be the main drivers in realizing Indonesia Emas 2045, with a focus on technology oriented towards community needs.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Salengke, M.Sc, Professor at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), discussed the integration of research and community service in the context of regional development, as well as how research can have a direct impact on improving community welfare.
In his speech, the Head of LPPM UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D., Sp.mk(K), emphasized the importance of synergy between research and community service. “To achieve Indonesia Emas 2045, research must not only be oriented towards science, but also be able to make a real contribution in solving social and economic problems faced by the community. We hope this seminar can open up broader collaboration between academics, government, and the community,” said Prof. Nasrum.
Prof. Dr. Bambang Purwanto, M.A., in his presentation, revealed that social research focused on community empowerment is very important to create sustainable change. According to him, research that involves the community in the process can strengthen their active participation in development.
Meanwhile, Prof. Ir. Lalu Muhamad Jaelani, ST, M.Sc., Ph.D, discussed the importance of sustainable technology research to encourage improvements in the quality of life of the community. He emphasized that appropriate technological innovations can be the solution to many challenges faced by Indonesia, such as infrastructure, health, and education issues.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Salengke, M.Sc, highlighted the importance of research-based community service to improve the quality of life in underdeveloped areas. According to him, the research conducted must be able to provide concrete solutions that can be directly implemented in people’s daily lives, especially in the agriculture, education, and local economic empowerment sectors.
The seminar also featured a panel discussion on how research and community service can work together to support government policies to achieve national development goals.
Through this seminar, LPPM UNHAS hopes to inspire more parties to continue innovating and collaborating in creating research that is not only useful in the academic world but also has a positive impact that can be directly felt by the community.
The seminar concluded with the presentation of certificates to the speakers whose work has proven to make a real contribution to the development of Indonesian society and the nation, as well as a joint declaration of commitment to realize Indonesia Emas 2045.
