UNHAS LPPM Disaster Study Center Attends USAID Invitation for Asian Resilience City Project

Makassar, October 23, 2024 – The Center for Disaster Studies of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) recently attended an invitation from USAID to participate in the Asian Resilience City Project. The event took place at the Four Points Hotel, Makassar.

The Asian Resilience City Project aims to enhance urban resilience against disasters through a sustainable and innovative approach. During this meeting, the UNHAS Center for Disaster Studies presented several research initiatives and projects undertaken regarding disaster mitigation and climate change adaptation in Indonesia.

The Head of the UNHAS Center for Disaster Studies, Dr. Ilham Alimuddin, ST., M.GIS, stated, “Participation in this project is a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and experience and establish closer collaboration in the effort to build more resilient cities.”

The event also included a panel discussion with experts from various disciplines, who discussed the best strategies for addressing the challenges of climate change and natural disasters. It is expected that the outcomes of this collaboration will contribute significantly to the development of more effective policies and practices at the local and regional levels.

With the presence of the UNHAS Center for Disaster Studies in this project, it is hoped that a strong synergy will be established among academia, government, and the community in creating innovative and sustainable solutions to tackle the various disaster risks faced by cities across Asia.
