Book Launch and Discussion: "Beyond Borders and the World of Revolution" – An In-Depth Discussion of the Indonesian War of Independence 1945-1949
The Center for Tourism and Cultural Studies of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) at Hasanuddin University (Unhas), together with the Obor Indonesia Foundation, KITLV (Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies), the Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University, and the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies, successfully held a book launch and discussion event titled “Melewati Batas dan Dunia Revolusi” (Crossing Boundaries and the World of Revolution) at 8:00 a.m. WITA in the LPPM Unhas Hall (26/09).
This event is an interesting and important cross-institutional collaboration, discussing two important books that tell the history of the Indonesian War of Independence 1945-1949 from different perspectives. The first book is titled “Crossing the Line: Dutch Extreme Violence in the Indonesian War of Independence 1945-1949,” while the second book is titled “The World of Revolution: Local Perspectives and Dynamics during the Indonesian War of Independence 1945-1949.”
The event was attended by a number of outstanding speakers and presenters, including Gert Oostindie, Ireen Hoogenboom, Abdul Wahid, Remy Limpach, Bambang Purwanto, Yulianti, and Taufik Ahmad. The event was also enlivened by the presence of discussant Dias Pradadimara and a highly competent moderator, Harry Isra Muhammad.
This event served as a forum for in-depth discussion on the history of the Indonesian War of Independence from 1945 to 1949, exploring various perspectives and different points of view. The speakers provided valuable insights and in-depth information on this important period in Indonesian history, which has not been widely explored.
The Center for Tourism and Cultural Studies at LPPM Unhas, together with all partners involved, would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the success of this event. We hope that the launch of this book will serve as a foundation for further research and a deeper understanding of the history of Indonesia’s struggle for independence.
