Makassar, February 17, 2025 – The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) received a visit from Kaltara University in the context of a comparative study to improve the quality of research and scientific publications. This activity was attended by the Head of LPPM and the Head of Quality Assurance at Kaltara University.
The Head of LPPM UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D., Sp.MK welcomed the initiative and emphasized LPPM UNHAS’ commitment to opening up opportunities for collaboration to improve research and scientific publication capacity in various institutions, including private universities in North Kalimantan.
During the meeting, Kaltara University proposed a collaboration in assisting with the writing of research proposals and community service to increase the number of Scopus-indexed publications.
“We at LPPM UNHAS are ready to collaborate with various parties to improve the quality of scientific publications. If the main challenge is the lack of publications that impact the Scopus index, then the solution is to increase the capacity of lecturers and researchers through competency development, identify supporting infrastructure such as laboratories, and expand cooperation with local governments and other universities,” said Prof. Nasrum.
He also added that optimizing funds from local governments can be used to build a bank of proposals to support research productivity. LPPM UNHAS, through the Publication Management Center (PMC), is ready to provide assistance in managing scientific publications to improve the quality and number of Scopus-indexed publications.
In line with this, the Secretary of PMC UNHAS, Prof. Ir Andi Dirpan, S.T.P., M.Si., Ph.D emphasized the importance of identifying specific needs in an effort to increase scientific publications.
This visit became a momentum for LPPM UNHAS to expand the scope of collaboration in an effort to improve research in Indonesia. As part of its commitment, LPPM UNHAS is ready to support the improvement of academic capacity and research productivity through strategic synergies with various institutions, including the University of Kaltara. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the national research ecosystem and encourage more quality scientific publications.
This visit is expected to pave the way for further collaboration that can make a positive contribution to the development of science and community welfare, especially in North Kalimantan.
