Makassar, January 2-3, 2025 – The Institute for Research and Community Service
(LPPM) of Hasanuddin University, in collaboration with the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency
(BPDPKS), held a socialization and coaching clinic to support
the preparation of palm oil research grant proposals for 2025.
The event, attended by researchers from various study centers and faculties at Hasanuddin University,
aims to increase the chances of proposal success while encouraging the development of more
innovative and relevant national palm oil research.
In his opening remarks, Hasanuddin University Rector Prof. Dr. Ir Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, emphasized
the importance of Indonesia’s role in the global market. “As the second largest palm oil producer in
the world, we must go beyond our role as a supplier of raw materials. Indonesia must
be able to become a producer of value-added products that are highly competitive in the
international market,” said the Rector of Hasanuddin University.
Dr. Tony Liwang, a member of the BDPKS Research and Development Committee, highlighted
the importance of the substance of the proposal in increasing the chances of success. “Proposals must
have strong innovation and relevance. Only with quality substance will the chances of acceptance be greater,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Prof. Didik, Coordinator of Palm Oil Research in Indonesia, suggested
the formation of a cross-disciplinary team in the preparation of proposals. “Interdisciplinary collaboration
will produce more comprehensive proposals, offering richer solutions for the development of the palm oil industry,” he added.
The Head of LPPM UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D., Sp.Mk(K), on the same occasion, expressed
high hopes that this research would proceed according to plan. “As an institution
that accommodates research, LPPM is committed to supporting the entire process, from
facilitation to supervision of its implementation. We hope that this program will not only
produce quality research, but also have a real impact on the community and the national
palm oil industry,” he said.
The socialization agenda covered several topics, including program introduction, funding policies and
mechanisms, proposal writing tips, best practices for research grant recipients,
and priority research topics. This program is a strategic step for Hasanuddin University
to strengthen its role in supporting the independence of Indonesia’s palm oil industry.
