LPPM UNHAS Boosts Research Innovation through Thematic Research Groups (TRG)
Makassar, February 6, 2025 – The Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) remains committed to enhancing the quality and quantity of its research amidst budget efficiency measures. A key strategy implemented is the establishment of the Thematic Research Group (TRG). This internal research scheme is both mandatory and non-competitive, designed to support more focused and high-impact research outcomes.
The Head of LPPM UNHAS, Professor Nasrum, stated that the TRG is expected to be an optimal solution for increasing research and community service funding.
“In a time of budget efficiency, we must remain productive in research. TRG serves as a collaborative platform that enables the development of research that is both more strategic and applicable,” he remarked.
The TRG socialization event, organized by LPPM UNHAS, was attended by the Rector of UNHAS, the TRG Coordinators, and the Heads of TRG from various faculties. The event aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the research scheme, implementation mechanism, and program timeline.
In his address, the Rector of UNHAS emphasized the strategic role of TRG in supporting UNHAS’s academic reputation.
“UNHAS is a common home for academics and researchers. Let us champion this TRG to ensure its success and deliver tangible impact,” he stated.
For the year 2025, UNHAS’s internal research is focused on expanding international collaboration through the Integrated Multi-Program for Academic Triumph (IMPACT).
The TRG is expected to function as a productive and innovative expertise group, generating reputable scientific publications, and contributing significantly to technological development and the resolution of societal problems.
Furthermore, the TRG will serve as the driving force (lokomotif) in strengthening UNHAS’s position as an international-standard educational institution and expanding its academic network both nationally and globally.
With this initiative, LPPM UNHAS hopes that the research generated will not only possess high academic value but also provide a tangible contribution to economic development and community welfare.
