Friday, November 22, 2024 The Halal Inspection Center of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) held a contract signing ceremony with the Makassar City Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) Office. The event, held at the LPPM Building on the UNHAS campus, aimed to strengthen collaboration in the development of sustainable micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and improve the quality of MSME products through halal certification.
The cooperation contract was signed by the Head of LPPM UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi Ph.D., Sp.Mk(K). and the Head of the Makassar City Cooperative and SME Office, Muhammad Rheza S.STP., M.Si. In his speech, Prof. Nasrum said that this cooperation is a strategic step in supporting MSMEs in Makassar City to expand their market by ensuring that the products they produce meet recognized halal standards.
“With this cooperation, we hope that MSME players in Makassar can gain understanding and ease in the halal certification process. We are ready to provide assistance so that their products can be well accepted in domestic and international markets,” said Prof. Nasrum.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Rheza welcomed this collaboration and hoped that it would increase the competitiveness of MSMEs in Makassar City. “Halal certification is very important, especially for products marketed to a wider market. This collaboration provides an opportunity for MSMEs to access quality halal inspection services from UNHAS,” he said.
In this collaboration, the UNHAS LPPM Halal Inspection Center will provide consultation and halal inspection services for MSME products registered with the Makassar City Cooperative and SME Office. In addition, training and education on the importance of halal certification will also be provided to increase business actors’ understanding of halal products.
The contract signing ceremony was also attended by a number of officials from UNHAS, the Cooperative and SME Office, and SMEs that have joined the program. It is hoped that through this collaboration, an SME ecosystem will be created that is increasingly developed and has high competitiveness at the national and global levels.
